Today is General Conference. 6 hours of meetings in 3 2-hour blocks. I sincerely love it.
One of the most touching talks was Elder Holland’s talk. You can watch and listen to it here: http://bcove.me/z72c8hkc It is a great talk about dealing with, or dealing with those, who have depression or other forms of mental illness. It’s a talk of hope and encouragement. It is worth living if you or a loved one suffers from such ailments.
Much of conference seems to have a theme of “repent for the time is at hand”. Elder Packer is one of my favorite, and you can hear this theme in his talk: http://bcove.me/29x0acdv Not only is there a warning call, but a promise of hope for those who keep the commandments and read the scriptures.
After the 2nd session, I headed to the church for the traditional chili dinner. We were a little worried that attendance would be low since the session is going to be broadcast. However, we had a good turn out.
I returned home after the dinner to watch the Priesthood Session in the comfort of my own home. There is something to be said about watching it surrounded by your brethren, but it is also nice to be able to be comfortable while watching it. Change is good, and this change will allow more to enjoy watching conference as it happens.
